I painted the image of Wedge Island [the name of my publishing and production company] as a gift to my sister and a memorial to my ancestors. Although there is no longer a lighthouse on the Island, which is located at the mouth of Nova Scotia's beautiful St. Mary's River, this image represents what the island looked like in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries when, at different times, members of both sides of my family [Burns and Croft] lived on the island with their families and kept the light.
